Dr. Burklin-Wolf
Created in 1597 Dr. Bürklin-Wolf Estate is the largest and most important family owned winery in Germany, with its 85 hectares in the heart of the famous Pfalz wine region. Located in the Mittelhaardt district, this unique top-rated vineyard sites allow producing among the finest Rieslings in the world. The estate has been expertly run over the past few decades by Bettina Bürklin-von Guradze, who in 1994 made a seemingly radical decision at the time to forgot other varieties and focus on terroir-driven, dry, vineyard-designated bottlings of Riesling. Her model was that of Burgundy, with four tiers of quality: basic "estate" wine, named "village" cuvées, premier crus (which she calls "P.C.") and grand crus ("G.C."). Also she decided in the 1990’s to convert the entire 85 hectares estate to biodynamic farming, being the first German winery to take this ecological policy. ‘One of the first estates in Germany’ - Steve Tanzer ‘Bürklin-wolf is one of Germany's most admired producers’ - Jancis Robinson
