Champagne Helene Beaugrand
Champagne, France
Champagne Helene Beaugrand is the story of a unique Champagne, made from vineyards located in a special place called Montgueux. It is a hill located just next to Troyes, apart from the other main production areas. It is considered the healthiest of the Champagne region thanks to its ideal exposition and the surrounding natural environment. The soft Turonian Chalk and Silex soil allows the vines to flourish without water stress and produce well-ripened Chardonnay grapes rich in aromatic complexity so particular to this unusual terroir. Vines have been cultivated in the area since the 12th century but weren’t grown after the phylloxera crisis until the Beaugrand family was the first one to plant vines again, to produce the first wines in 1919. It was recognized as Champagne AOC in 1927 thanks to the efforts of Leon Beaugrand. Helene, his granddaughter is now cultivating her own 3-hectare plot with care and respect to nature, producing exceptional wines. All the cuvées come from old vines aged 45 years on grassy soils.
Champagne Helene Beaugrand is offering all of what determines her owner: a benevolent originality, full of dreams, standing on the fierce determination that nurtures her desire to share her love for the king of wines.
